BBQ

When the weather is nice, it is always a good idea to have a barbecue! You can prepare any food that you like, at all sorts of locations in and around the city. There are lots of public parks that offer free use of barbecues.

It is a good idea to prepare the food before you get to the park. You can make up any sort of marinade that you would like, let it soak a bit, then cook it up on the barbie!

Another option would be to stop at the store or market on the way to the park, some meat is already seasoned and ready for cooking.

Don't forget to bring a blanket to sit on. You can cook, eat, and even sun bake all in one day. It's nice to be able to relax with some friends and enjoy some good food!

Victoria market

The Victoria Market is a good place to get anything!! They have exotic, local, and imported Australian fruit and vegetables, gourmet foods, hardware, clothing, and souvenirs. There are almost 1,000 traders that sell their goods at the market.
The market is open five days a week: Tuesday and Thursday 6am-2pm, Friday 6am-6pm, Saturday 6am-3pm, and Sunday 9am-4pm. Sunday's are always a good day to go, especially the hour before it closes. All the vendors selling produce are slashing prices and you can get a lot of good stuff for little to nothing.
The market is only a short walk from the city, or a quick tram ride from outside the city, making it easily accessible to everyone.

Ron Mueck

While here in Melbourne, I've been able to go to the Victoria Gallery and the Australian centre of the arts. These are very nice art galleries and definitely worth looking around in. The Victoria Gallery has an exhibit on currently featuring artist Ron Mueck. His work is AMAZING!! Everything is so life-like and fascinating.

Introduction

Hi,
My name is Tiffany, I
am a Fashion Design student in my final semester. I started off at Buffalo State College, and am currently studying abroad at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia. I have been here for about 2 months now and am finally enjoying myself. The trip started out rough; 2 days of travel time to get here, a 16 hour time change to get used to, and arriving in a new country completely on my own... Not to mention i had only a few days to find a place to live!! Then, when i thought things couldn't get worse, i found out my classes had started 2 weeks earlier!!

By some miracle, within a week i found a place to stay, good people to live with, and got settled into all my classes. I am living in Brunswick West which is a short tram ride and walk away from the college, and not too much further past that is the city. I really like the location, it's a nice town that has easy access to everything that you need.

The first month here con
sisted of going to classes and doing the usual tourist things.. going to the Aquarium, the Zoo, and the Art Galleries. Plus, tons of walking around and exploring. Also, checked out the beach, along with some nice Restaurants and Pubs. Everything here seems to be settling into place, and I'm finally getting used to my surroundings.
